We all know Asurion as the insurance company that helps anytime our phone is lost or malfunctions. I recently had the most interaction with Asurion than I have ever had in my whole five years of being a Sprint customer.  When I added my  15 year old twin sisters to my account, I knew that I had sign them up for Total Equipment Protection. Being teenagers they are notorious for cracked screens, lost phones, and just downright carelessness when it comes to their cell phones. I’m sure glad I did. My little sister called me crying last week saying that someone had stolen her phone and she was just devastated that all her pictures and music and files would be lost. After playing the caring sister role, I got on the phone with Asurion who attempted to locate her phone using their tracking system. They weren’t able to track the phone because  it had been powered off but they were able to lock the phone and put a message on the phone that said to “Return this phone or I’m calling the police,” at my direction. The next day they helped me to erase the phone. All of the contacts, pictures, videos, and music were backed up to the cloud so she could access them on her new device. Of course they helped to file a claim for a replacement device and her phone came in a couple of days.

Once her phone got here, we had to set everything up again. We had to get all of her information from the cloud and get everything back to her preferences. Who did we call? Asurion once again. This time we spoke with a tech support specialist who walked us through everything step by step. I like to consider myself a pretty tech savvy person but sometimes even I need help setting up new devices. Speaking on the phone with the Asurion rep for an hour sure beat waiting in the  store for three hours waiting for them to get to you.

Asurion works with the major cell phone companies and they each have an app that you can download. Within the app you can call tech support directly, backup your phone, scan for threats, and so much more.
