After our last post about proper dog park etiquette, my human has been on a mission to find a dog park that works for both of us…big open spaces for me and no poop piles for her. She recently came across a grand opening event for the newest dog park in Houston, the Johnny Steele Dog Park! This dog park looks to be the Every dog has its day and that day is coming at the grand opening celebration of the Johnny Steele Dog Park . This newest park will be located at the northwest corner of Allen Parkway and Montrose Boulevard. There is free parking on the southeast corner of Allen Parkway and Montrose Boulevard.

This new park will feature a a pond for both large and small dogs, dog washing areas, and shaded areas. It’s only right that this new park has a true “grand” opening so the team at Buffalo Bayou Parnetship is inviting the us and our humans to a fun filled day. Check out the schedule below:

1:00 pm – Dedication Ceremony
1:30 pm – Strut Your Mutt Doggie Fashion Show hosted by Addie Brands
2:30 pm – Dog Look-Alike Contest; prize sponsored by Modular Dog
3:00 pm – Dog Park Etiquette and Trainer Tips by Peace Love & Dogs Houston

There will be a shopping set up at the Bayou Boutique  and from Addie Brands. You can also enjoy nail trims and pet grooming tips from Rocky & Maggie’s Petshop. I like following my human to the local taco truck but Natural Paws Treat Truck will be there with all-natural treats for us pups. There will also be hot dogs from Good Dog Hot Dog for the humans.Whole Foods Market will be selling premium dog food and will also food available for purchase for the humans. Katz Coffee will be serving hot chocolate and coffee, it has been a bit chilly. And beer from St. Arnold Brewing Company…do let your pup get close to this!

Houston’s CAP (an organization dear to my human’s hear) will be giving out free doggie kisses at their kissing booth. Pup Squad will be doing dog adoptions and BARC will be speaking about it’s Animal Shelter & Adoptions Volunteer Program. There will be a Puppie’s for Breakast doggie lounge for the pups and the human’s to chill out. DJ III-Set will be spinning the tunes. Yappy Hour Events will be raffling out prizes as well.

This event sounds like a ton of fun…I won’t be able to make it since my human is going skiing, but I’ll check out all of the updates on Instagram!
